Holiday Party & Gift Exchange
Troop families - come join us for our annual holiday party and gift exchange on Tuesday, December 18 at 6:00 pm (note the earlier time!). Set up starts at 5:30. We will be having a pot luck (email Carol with what you want to bring). Scouts who want to participate in the gift exchange, should bring a wrapped gift ($5-10 value - "regifting" or gently used items are OK too). |
Troop 747's Hero
Did you know that one of Troop 747's leaders is a hero? Our very own Committee Chair, Doug Ullrich, put his Scout experience to good use recently to assist at a very serious accident on Highway 87 just South of Payson. Mr. Ullrich was driving back from Camp Geronimo after dropping his son off to work there for the summer. It was after 9:00 p.m., and he and his wife were following a semi-truck navigating the curving roads along the Beeline Highway. As they turned one corner, they came upon a surreal scene as the semi-truck had apparently tipped over, spilling all of its cargo. Mrs. Ullrich called 911 while Mr. Ullrich headed towards the location of the truck's cab, somewhere off the edge of the highway. He found the driver hanging upside down in his cab, still attached by his seat belt. The truck's engine was smoking and diesel fuel was pouring out of the truck's fuel tank. He assisted the badly injured driver with getting released from his seat belt, and waited with him until help arrived. Once paramedics arrived, Mr. Ullrich assisted emergency crews with navigating the wreck and getting the driver to the ambulance. Way to go, Mr. Ullrich! Camp Geronimo Court of Honor
Well, the boys have survived another year at Camp Geronimo! This was the Troop's fifth year at camp, and the boys had lots of fun and earned tons of merit badges. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 10th (6:30 pm) NOTE THE NEW DATE!! which will be our Camp Geronimo Court of Honor. This is one of our biggest ones of the year. The boys will get all of their Geronimo patches, awards, and merit badges. We will also have a highlight video with pictures of the boys from camp. Bring the family and a camera! |
Geronimo is Coming Fast
As of today, there are only 18 days left until Camp Geronimo! Wow, time flies! Boys, make sure that you're looking at prerequisites and reading those merit badge booklets. Remember that the more you do now, the more free time you will have at camp. Everything you need to know about Geronimo is located on our Camp Geronimo page (under Troop Resources). Double check to make sure you have all of the equipment and supplies you need for camp, too. If you have any questions, check with someone who has gone before to get some insight about what to expect. |

Grandma's Special Day 2012
Troop 747 participated with the local community for Grandma's Special Day on Saturday, April 28. The boys in attendance helped out with a variety of yard work for the elderly in the neighborhood. Kudos to those boys who participated (and don't forget to log those service hours!). |
Spring Camporee April 20-21
UPDATE: Congratulations to the patrols that participated at Camporee. We won a bunch of ribbons. Special recognition to Jeremy S. who helped Troop 747 win 1st place in the cooking contest with his dutch oven pizza! Troop 747 also took home the spirit stick and will be hosting the next Camporee this fall. We will be attending the Thunderbird District Spring Camporee this weekend at Pinal County Fairgrounds. The boys will be competing in various activities including knot tying, first aid, and a cooking contest. |
Scout O Rama 2012
Come visit us at our booth at Scout O Rama this Saturday, April 14 at Tempe Kiwanis Park. We're going to be cooking gourmet s'mores all day long! The event runs from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Kids get to check out all sorts of fun activities run by different Packs, Troops, and Crews from around the Valley. **We need Scouts and adults from Troop 747 to be there at 8:00 a.m. to help set up.** UPDATE: Troop 747 got full honors and earned all five ribbons with the "Gourmet S'mores" booth! Way to go boys! |
